I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
Frank Herbert, Dune

Phobias are extreme and irrational fears of things or situations that most people would not perceive as fear provoking or in any way threatening. Phobias can be complex such as agoraphobia and social phobia.

Lets look at two of the most common and perhaps more complex phobias:

Agoraphobia

Social phobia

Less complex phobias are referred to as specific phobias such as arachnophobia  ( fear of spiders)

Specific Phobias

There are as many phobias as there are things to fear and it is not possible to include them all. However I would welcome and encourage sufferers of any type of phobia to share their experience with others. The best way to understand any illnesses is though the perspective of the sufferer therefore if you would like to share your experience concerning your phobia, how it effects your life, how you cope with it and so on please e-mail me and I will include your experiences.
